At 6:00 pm on December 20, the final of “Classics Reappearing” Drama Competition organized by our faculty was held on the fifth floor of Student Activity Center. Some leaders and guests such as Wang Dongshuang, the vice director of Student Affairs Department; Hu Zhongbo, the vice director of the Dean’s Office; Xue Pingjun, the vice party secretary of School of Sociology; Zhang Huizhi, the vice secretary of Youth League Committee of CCNU; Zuo Yinan, the secretary of Youth League Committee of School of Public Administration; Quan Xianxing, the secretary of Youth League Committee of School of Foreign Languages and Zhen Cheng, the secretary of Youth League Committee of our constitute were invited to serve as judges.
This competition organized by our faculty and co-organized by “Wenhua Gouchen” drama club was for the whole school. A total of 30 teams took part in the preliminary contest and nine teams stood out and entered the final after a series of selections and intense rivalries.
The final kicked off in the gentle beauty of the dance “Wan Hua Gu” .The first drama “Chang he Yin” brought the audience’s attention back to the Three Kingdoms and showed that complicated and murky era which produced a host of heroes and heroines.“My lover is a unrivaled hero. One day he will wear a golden armour and sail colorful clouds to come to marry me”, Fairy Zixia’s naïve expectation, reserved eyesight shown on the city wall ,is “Cinderella” ’s interpretation of joys and sadnesses of love. Family tragedy of human relations and misery of times in “The Night of Thunderstorms”, the fate struggling of a pair of sisters who persued their dreams associated with friendliness and affection under the prosperous image of Hong Kong in the last century shown by “Hai Wa’s Death” ,the irony and humor of“My Own Swordsman----Mo Xiaobei’s dream back to the Studios” ,the struggle for power and dignity in “Xiu Chun Dao”, the voluptuousness and luxury of the Jazz age under the cover of muggy air in “The Great Gatsby”, were all attractive and exceedingly astounding.
The guitar performance ”Bu Zhi” by guitar club, dance ”Gashina” by Dance Troupe of School of Sociology and the theme song “Yesterday Once More” interpreted by School of Music were interspersed among those drama performances. The performances were rich in contents and ingeniously arranged. The whole competition was structurally compact with active atmosphere.
Ultimately, after intense rivalries, the drama “Red Sorghum” got the first prize level with “Life Is A Miracle”. “Red Sorghum” intercepted the period after Qi Guan was murdered and depicted the images in the face of national and family hatred and Jiu Er ’s strong and unyielding character with performers’ performances full of strain, while “Life Is A Miracle” detailedly indicated the pain of a new couple who suffered from AIDS ’s hardship when faced with life and death: Sweetness of love, graceful expectation for a brilliant future and huge paradox that they might be separated by death at any time, among which were characters’ complex thoughts and dramatic changes of fate which carried the audience away.
Having interpreted emotions and things among people to the fullest between scenes and on the small stage, performers’ skillful performances , elaborate lightings and appropriate display of tools made the audience indulge in the attraction of classics and Drama Art.
After the award ceremony, Minister Wang Dongshuang gave us some summative comments representing the judges. He spoke highly of this drama competition, fully approved of the work and great devotion of our faculty in this competition and hoped that we School of Sociology could inherit the “Classics Reappearing” Drama Competition and made it a drama competition with colorful characteristics, profound historical background and high reputation.
At this point, the final of“Classics Reappearing” Drama Competition ended satisfactorily.
