At 8:00 am on November 18, 2017, the 11th “CCNU Postgraduate Cup” Volleyball Competition hosted by CCNU Youth League Committee and CCNU Graduate Union was held on the volleyball court in the western part of CCNU. This competition was organized by School of Literature, School of History and Culture, School of Sports and School of Urban & Environmental Sciences, and joint co-organized by School of Education, School of Public Administration, School of Marxism and School of Mathematics and Statistics. As an annual sports competition for postgraduates in CCNU, it attracted numerous volleyball lovers to participate actively.
With passionate national anthem sounding, the competition formally kicked off. The head of Department of Sports and Entertainment of CCNU Graduate Union introduced the guests and delivered a speech for this activity, hoping players to uphold the spirit: “Demonstrate Ourselves, Demonstrate Our Capacity”, compete with each other and make progress together. Afterwards, referee and player representatives announced the oath. At this point, the opening ceremony came to an end and the competition formally started.
This competition whose form was team event required each faculty to organize as a team and sent out fewer than 12 players. The whole competition was divided into two parts: the group stage and the knockout stage. In the group stage, ranking stage and the first two rounds of the knockout stage, each match might last for three sets in total and the team which first won two could win the match (25 points each set). In the semi-final, each match might last for five sets in total and the one which first won three could win the match(25 points each set).
With the referee blowing the whistle, the game formally started. Our team’s first opponent was School of Public Administration Volleyball Team.During this match our team effectively limited our mistakes and finally beat our opponent by 2-0. Our second opponent was School of Law Volleyball Team. At the beginning we stayed ahead, but due to our mistakes, School of Law Volleyball Team won the game at last. The result was one win and one loss, which enabled us to rank the second place in the group and successfully entered the eighth-final. Regretfully,we failed to enter the quarter-final.
Through this match,our players co-operated and communicated with each other.Not only did it promote their tacit agreement, but also it played an important role in enhancing their volleyball skills. Tough training and sweat had witnessed their great endeavour. They fully demonstrated their style and skill, and also showed the sportsmanship of struggling courageously and pursuing excellence.
